Getting Started

1. Sign In: Create an account using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or Email/Password (required for cloud sync).
2. Grant Permissions: Allow microphone and speech recognition access when prompted.
3. Start Listening: Tap the "Listen" button to begin real-time transcription.
4. View Captions: Watch live captions appear in real-time on the main screen.
5. HUD Mode: Tap "HUD" to switch to windshield display mode with mirror-reversed text.
6. Save: Conversations are automatically saved when you stop listening.

Authentication & Sync

HUD Live Captioning requires sign-in to provide cloud sync across your devices. You can sign in using:

• Apple Sign-In: Quick and secure authentication using your Apple ID
• Google Sign-In: Sign in with your Google account
• Email/Password: Create an account with any email address

Your conversation history, settings, and statistics are automatically synced to Firebase Firestore and accessible across all your devices. All data is private to your account and encrypted in transit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data private?

Yes! All transcription happens on your device using Apple's Speech framework. We never process your audio or transcripts on our servers. Your conversation history is stored in your private Firebase account and is only accessible to you. We cannot see or access your conversations.

Do I need an account?

Yes. An account is required to use the app and enables cloud sync of your conversation history across devices. You can sign in with Apple, Google, or Email/Password.

Does it work offline?

Yes! The app uses on-device speech recognition, so transcription works without an internet connection once the language model is downloaded. However, you need internet to sign in and sync your data.

Can I export my conversations?

Yes! You can export saved conversations as text files from the conversation history in Settings.

What is OpenDyslexic font?

OpenDyslexic is a specially designed font that helps people with dyslexia read more easily. The app uses this font in HUD mode for better readability while driving.

How do I use HUD mode while driving?

Mount your phone on your dashboard, tap "HUD" to enter HUD mode, enable mirror mode, and the text will reflect on your windshield. The app uses large OpenDyslexic font for optimal visibility and readability. Adjust brightness as needed.

What happens if I sign out?

When you sign out, all local conversation history is cleared from your device for privacy. Your data remains safely stored in the cloud and will be restored when you sign back in.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. You can delete your account from Settings. This will permanently delete all your data from Firebase and cannot be undone.
