Information You Provide
- Apple Sign In (Required): To use HUD Karaoke, you must sign in with your Apple ID. We receive your Apple ID authentication token and basic profile information (name, email) as provided by Apple.
- Song History: We store a list of songs you've recognized and sung along to in your iCloud account.
Automatically Collected Information
- Audio Data: The app uses your device's microphone to detect songs playing in your environment. This audio is processed locally on your device using Apple's ShazamKit and is never transmitted to our servers or stored.
- Song Recognition Data: When a song is identified, we fetch synchronized lyrics using the song's metadata (title, artist, album).
- Device Information: We may collect basic device information such as iOS version and device model for app functionality and troubleshooting.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide song recognition and lyrics display functionality
- To sync your song history across your devices via iCloud
- To improve app performance and user experience
- To provide customer support
- To comply with legal obligations
Data Storage and Security
Local Storage
Most app data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to external servers except as described below.
iCloud Storage (Required)
Your song history and app settings are stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This data is encrypted and only accessible by you across your devices. iCloud storage is required to use HUD Karaoke.
Third-Party Services
- ShazamKit: Audio recognition is performed locally on your device using Apple's ShazamKit framework. Audio data is not transmitted to external servers.
- Lyrics Services: We fetch synchronized lyrics from third-party services using only song metadata (title, artist, album).
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- With Your Consent: We may share information when you explicitly authorize us to do so.

Your Privacy Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You can view your song history within the app.
- Deletion: You can delete your song history at any time through the app settings.
- Microphone Access: You can revoke microphone access at any time through iOS Settings → Privacy → Microphone. Note that this will prevent the app from recognizing songs.
- Account Deletion: You can sign out at any time, which will remove your local data. Your iCloud data will remain in your iCloud account and can be deleted through iCloud settings.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
